Technological Spotlight
Dr. Hieu Ball is dedicated to researching and utilizing the latest technological advancements in spine surgery, ensuring his patients benefit from the most innovative and effective minimally invasive techniques available. Below are two such technologies worth spotlighting.
prodisc Total Disc Replacement – An Alternative to Cervical Fusion
Prior to the development of artificial discs, the only surgical option was a fusion, in which adjacent vertebral bodies are “fused together” permanently using implants, bone chips and/or cages. The goal of the prodisc Total Disc Replacement device is to maintain mobility at the affected intervertebral disc and to reduce the extra loading on the adjacent intervertebral discs.
iFuse 3D is an advanced implant designed for SI Joint Fusion
The iFuse 3D by SI-BONE is an advanced implant designed for sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion to alleviate pain and improve stability in patients suffering from SI joint dysfunction. This innovative implant features a 3D-printed porous surface, promoting bone growth and ensuring a secure, long-lasting fusion. Its unique triangular shape and fenestrated design provide strength and enhance bone ingrowth, allowing for a more natural integration with the body. The iFuse 3D has been developed to offer a minimally invasive solution, reducing recovery time and helping patients return to their daily activities more quickly.
